Breeze at Night
A Non-Solo of June Wong in Association with Amie Chan, Carol Chow, and Winsome Wong
18-26 Jan 2025
Detroit Stockholm
In 2025, nProjekt continues bridging Hong Kong’s vibrant art scene with the global art community. Following the successful expansion of Non-Solo to Barcelona in 2024, the series now journeys to Stockholm, Sweden, with Breeze at Night – A Non-Solo of June Wong in association with Amie Chan, Carol Chow, and Winsome Wong at Detroit Stockholm. Running from 18–26 January 2025, the exhibition highlights artistic excellence and fosters cultural dialogue.
Since its inception in 2021, Non-Solo has redefined conventional solo exhibitions by activating unconventional spaces in Hong Kong and featuring guest artists to expand visual dialogue. Committed to international collaboration, the series fosters connections between artists and artist-run spaces worldwide. This edition exemplifies that vision, spotlighting June Wong’s animation work alongside contributions from three Hong Kong artists, creating a platform for diverse artistic practices and meaningful cultural exchange.
June Wong’s Breeze at Night offers a meditative exploration of time and the poetry of everyday life. In an intimate basement screening room, hand-drawn animations reflect on the ephemeral beauty of existence. On the ground floor, her animations are presented alongside her drawings and works by Amie Chan, Carol Chow, and Winsome Wong, establishing a resonant, multi-dimensional dialogue. Wong’s themes highlight urban life’s transient beauty—scenes like a towel swaying by a window, humid air clinging to never-drying laundry, or outdated calendar pages fluttering in the breeze—reminding viewers of time’s passage and the quiet grace of unnoticed moments.
The collaborative contributions of Amie Chan, Carol Chow, and Winsome Wong expand the narrative framework of Breeze at Night, fostering a cross-media interplay of ideas and aesthetics.
• Amie Chan utilises ceramic painting to abstract imagery from her surroundings, bridging the tangible and intangible. Her works create reflective spaces where emotions and narratives woven into the everyday emerge.
• Carol Chow reimagines identity and memory by revisiting old narratives through innovative photographic techniques. Her generative methods challenge perceptions of reality and imagination, enriching the exhibition’s themes with her distinct visual language.
• Winsome Wong explores the boundaries of repetition in digital media. By juxtaposing captured and generative moving images, she investigates the dynamic interplay between static and time-based media, offering viewers a layered and complex visual experience.
Together, these artists create a rich, spatially constructed visual dialogue that not only highlights their individual practices, but also illuminates the possibilities of artistic collaboration. By bringing Breeze at Night to Stockholm, nProjekt continues its mission to create meaningful connections between artists, audiences and the wider global art community. This edition of Non-Solo promises to inspire dialogue, reflection and a lasting appreciation for the transformative power of art.
