In the collaborative exhibition The Shape of Mutual Life, Sanna Fogelvik and Charlotta Hayes explore the life of trees and the enduring bond between human and forest. Through video, 3D animation, photographs, and prints, they invite viewers into the woods — a place of solace, adventure and continual transformation.

The forest is never still; death becomes renewal, decay becomes growth and time moves along a different scale. Every tree has its unique shape, molded from memories of persistent growth, of tearing rocks apart, binding soil and holding the world together. Each layer pulsing with adaptation, a living archive mirroring memory itself: ever-changing, yet timeless.

As humans we can immerse ourselves in the forest as a way to find connection with the nonhuman, and we can let it take us to another world through imagination and play. Our senses can inspire us to explore the overlapping worlds present in a forest. The exhibition touches upon both those spaces and lets them merge.

Charlotta Hayes is a Stockholm-based artist interested in telling stories about the untold, the unseen and that which might have been, primarily through the media of photography, video and the written word. Her art practice explores the boundaries between reality and fiction, bringing to light the complexities of the human condition and our relationship to nature.

Sanna Fogelvik is a multidisciplinary artist and architect based in Stockholm. Their work explores emotional relationships between humans and the more-than-human world. Through 3D animation and experimental photography, Fogelvik looks at how imagination and matter overlap, guided by a sense of melancholy and wonder.
