Henrik Green

Henrik is an artist working with painting, installation and performance where appearance/disappearance, evasive joy and the numinous are recurring themes. Conceived and created in a secular christian and rational context, the works probes the possibility to create numinous experience absent of organized religion. The works call for patience and surrender to the ritual of experiencing them.

In Henrik's work, paintings turn to careful constructions of elements in attempts to make secular altars of contemplation. Performances are rituals, a game of hide and seek with our expectations of a common experience. Installations often return to materials used throughout human history such as stone, wood and water to channel concepts as well as basic human feelings such as dread, grief, comfort and compassion.
